HM and Balmain Collaboration

There is something exciting about collaboration in H&M. For me it is always exciting to know who is next. Last year we had Alexander Wang, who updated stores with neoprene, which was still in stock after two weeks in Nice, Cote d’Azur (who needs park when its hot?). This year we have Olivier Rousteing and collaboration with Balmain, which also has a line for men, not only women as usual.

All in all, collabs of H&M and well known successful fashion houses is something what we are looking forward to for many months after the news is announced. This is a rather important step in the fashion industry, where the majority of people still shop in such stores as Zara and H&M. Despite variety of issues and problems concerning fast fashion, it still the first choice for streetstyle starts and trendsetters around the globe. The reason is you can find everything you need for a relatively cheap price.

Engagement of famous designers in the mass market is, of course, one more way to make more money and to be closer to the mass. And this is the most exciting part. It’s like hunting. You have to be patient enough to stand a long queue in front of the store (often you have to be there before the store opens, if you wish to have your hands on something). Then, there is this impatient and exciting feeling of getting in and here starts the mess. You have to be strong and fast enough to get a willing piece.

This year the its Balmains turn to impress. And from what I’ve already seen its going to be quite interesting collection. The house is mostly famous for its couture embroidery, which is preferred by Kardashian clan. However, that’s for the girls. Boys should be excited as well, as Balmain features a great deal of biker jackets and trousers, which are really in fashion right now.

However, that was a real challenge for H&M, as Balmain is kind of super expensive due to the amount of work done on one piece of garment. Prices are sometimes mentioned as “price on request’ which is more polite way of saying its too expensive. Nevertheless, as collection is getting ready to be presented in H&M stores on 5th of November, it means that all the difficulties were overcome.

So gentlemen, here is to signature biker jackets and trousers, khaki coats and shirts. Cheers.
